Finally broke the losing streak!!!  For this race we are not trying too many new things, just working with what we have on a better track than most we race at.  This event we qualified 5^th out of 10 cars which put us in a tough position to get any easy breaks throughout the day.  We ended up winning all four rounds to take the win!  Not only that but we also took closest to dial award in eliminations as well as best light.  First round win of the year and the first event win!  And to top it off there wasn’t any easy rounds (no red lights or byes). 

Bremerton NIDRA July 18

Not quite as good as the first Bremerton event but sometimes you got to learn the hard way.  First round of eliminations I turned on the big red bulb by -0.020 seconds.  As much as I hate to say it, I don’t think I was early but rather that the car reacted differently.  What we decided is that we were working on the 60’ of the car and we had it on the edge too much and it was hooking up too hard.  The weather conditions changed and with all of the rubber from the V8 cars we missed the setup.  Secondly the clutch was gripping WAY too well popping the car out of the lights.  In the end a loss is a loss but I think we learned a bit from this one again. 

Portland NIDRA August 1st

After doing an inspection of the clutch I decided it was hooking up too hard for where I wanted it set.  I resurfaced the disk to see if we could get a different result.  First pass the track was in terrible condition and we ended up wasting (so much for seeing if the clutch resurface did any good or not).  Making a few minor adjustments and heading back up the car worked a little better even on the sadly prepped track.  At the end of the day we ended up winning five rounds (no freebies) to take the event win out of 19 cars.  And to top it off I grabbed the closest to dial in eliminations for a few extra points.  I believe with this event win I have taken the lead in points (however at this time I cannot confirm as they are not posted). 

 

Due to unfortunate work scheduling conflicts I will not be able to make the upcoming Woodburn event which takes me pretty far out of the points chase.  As disappointing as it is, its still about having fun and that’s what we will keep doing!!!
